Description: 

The Children's Residential Program at The Arc currently serves children and young adults, primarily between the ages of 16 and 20, in five residential settings offering both high intensity services and a program model which prepares older adolescents for independent living. Staff would provide support to our children in a home-like setting, using a program tailored to each individual's particular disability/challenge. 

Starting pay for entry level positions in our Children's program is $12.00 per hour. For those who have some related experience it may be possible to start out at a higher pay level. We have Full Time and Part time positions with available work hours primarily afternoons into evenings, which also include weekend hours. Day hours are also available during non-school days!

Requirements:

High School Diploma/GED required. This entry-level position requires no experience although one year of working with developmental disabilities or a similar population is preferred. Must be 21 years old or older, and have a valid driver's license along with two (2) years of driving experience and good driving history. It will also be necessary for staff to become certified as a Residential Child and Youth Care Practitioner in the State of MD.

In addition, the successful candidate must be able to attend our paid specialized training in its entirety, on and off during your first four (4) weeks of employment - M-F from 8:30 - 5:00 pm. Applicants also need to pass a reading comprehension and math test, a background check, and pre-employment screenings which include a drug screen and physical/fitness test. Position requires lifting and transferring (at least 50 pounds), and the ability to provide direct care and implement proper restraint techniques to ensure the health and safety of the persons served.
