Description:

Work in a creative Outreach program providing in-home and community based supports, assisting persons with disabilities (and some who are deaf and hard of hearing) to maintain and increase their levels of independence. These activities would include such things as assisting with skill building: cooking, cleaning, laundry, personal care, medical appointments, grocery shopping, learning how to utilize public transportation and access to other services.

We currently have a need for staff who know American Sign Language to interact with a deaf person we support in this program for about 10 hours per week. These hours would be worked over 2 to 3 days per week and this could change every week.  If you would also like to support the hearing people supported we have Full Time and Part Time positions available including the hours previously mentioned.

Pay rate of $13-$15 per hour when supporting people who are deaf and hard of hearing for staff who can carry on a conversation with someone using American Sign Language and $11.43 per hour when supporting people with general disabilities.

Qualifications:

High school diploma/GED required. This entry-level position requires no experience, although one year of working with developmental disabilities or a similar population is preferred. Applicants providing support to people who are deaf and hard of hearing would need to be able to carry on a conversation with someone in American Sign Language.
